Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, in partnership
with Southbank Centre, London Philharmonic Orchestra and National
Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, presents a day of extraordinary
new music, dance and film. Surrogate Cities forms part of Music
Nation, a spectacular weekend of music making around the UK to set
the scene and create excitement in the lead up to the London 2012
Festival, the finale of the Cultural Olympiad.

The public spaces of Royal Festival Hall are filled with music,
dance and film as Trinity Laban students and community participants
from across East and South London showcase work developed in
response to Heiner Goebbels: Surrogate Cities.
The afternoon will include performances from Animate Orchestra,
Dance Fusion, Junior Trinity, the London Philharmonic Orchestra's
The Band, Mulberry School for Girls and senior Trinity Laban
students, including a new dance work choreographed by
Jeremy Nelson.

Trinity Laban students collaborate with players from the LPO's
Foyle Future Firsts and the National Youth Orchestra to perform
Goebbels' extraordinary work which - drawing upon an eclectic mix
of musical influences, texts and sampled sounds - translates the
mechanics and architecture of the city into music.

The Foyle Future Firsts Programme is generously funded by The
