Alan MacCarthy


Councillor Allan MacCarthy has a dedicated record of community involvement in the local area. Currently working for the Greenwich and Woolwich Labour Party, Councillor MacCarthy has been a board member of Greenwich Dance for the past 14 years and served on the Board of Greenwich Theatre for around 20 years. With extensive experience of educational governance, he sat on the board of several local educational institutions and is currently the chair of the governing body of a Charlton primary school.

Councillor MacCarthy’s working background includes roles with the performance union British Equity, including as an organiser in Theatre and ITV and secretary to the Concert and Session Singer’s Committee. An MA graduate from Keele University, he is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a public governor of Moorfields NHS Foundation Hospital Trust.

He is currently a Greenwich Borough Councillor, chairing the Social Inclusion Scrutiny Panel.
