Purpose-built for professional dance training, our 12 dance studios are also flexible spaces for a variety of functions including film and photography shoots, meetings, workshops, exhibitions, dinners and evening receptions.
Seven of our studios are equipped in the traditional style, with ballet barres and mirrors, while the remaining five are designed in a more contemporary style, with plain white walls, making them all the more flexible for events. When necessary, the dance floors can be protected by fitted carpets.
Large windows allow natural light to flood into all of the spacious studios during the day, throwing the pastel colours of pink, blue and green into the light, clean spaces.
By night, the interior electric light from the studios illuminates the building, projecting colour out into the surrounding area and making movement and activity within the studios visible from the outside.

On an architectural tour of the Laban Building you can expect to experience Herzog and de Meuron's inspiring spaces and chaotic beauty, created through collaboration with the visual artist Michael Craig-Martin. The tour will explore spaces filled with vivid colour and dynamic form. These include dance studios, interlocking corridors, interior courtyards and a performing arts health suite - all centred around the main theatre space - the heart of the building.
