Dancer, Choreographer, Filmmaker

Dance

Trinity Laban provided the platform to engage in a dialogue with other art forms, and encouraged me to make films: it was a place which provoked and inspired me to explore new ways of expressing my creativity. I felt privileged to have this amazing opportunity.

Biography

Upon completing her Diploma in Dance in 2000, Fernanda Lippi performed at the opening of the Tate Modern as a solo artist. She founded Zikzira Physical Theatre and has produced critically acclaimed work for film, stage and site-specific venues collaborating with filmmakers and theatre companies. Her first feature film, As Cinzas de Deus (Ashes of God), was selected for high-profile film festivals around the world. It was exhibited at The Barbican, receiving critical acclaim and was named Time Out Critic’s Choice, a first for a dance film. Her full-length performance Verisimilitude (“Exemplary choreography” The Stage), was performed to packed audiences at The Riverside Studios, London and other venues in Europe and Brazil. In 2015, she released her second feature film, Sea without Shore (“Exquisitely choreographed with an immaculate eye for composing performance for the screen”). Along with Javier de Frutos and Paul Roberts, Fernanda was commissioned by BalletBoyz to co-create a piece screened on Sky Arts.
