Biography

Peter Edwards graduated in 2009 with a MMus in Jazz. He has since gained an established reputation as a pianist, composer and bandleader. Peter has recorded and toured with the Abram Wilson Quartet and has worked with Rhythmica, Nicola Emmanuelle and Zara McFarlane. In 2013 he formed The Peter Edwards Trio and his debut album Safe and Sound was released in 2014 to critical praise. The trio were selected to play at Manchester Jazz Festival for BBC Introducing, which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Peter is also the musical director of the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, who perform original works, commissions and ground breaking jazz classics. He has composed several works for the ensemble which have been performed at the London Jazz Festival. Peter was awarded Jazz Newcomer of the Year Award at the 2015 Parlimentary Jazz Awards and has been selected as a participant for the BBC Introducing Showcase at the 2015 Montreal Jazz Festival.

Peter received the TCL Choral Scholarship and the Ludwig Lebell Scholarship while at Trinity Laban.
