Rob Willson

I had a fantastic time at Trinity Laban, benefiting from first rate tuition, support and guidance throughout my two years there. It is a great place to study, in beautiful surroundings, and it provided me with the learning environment and performance opportunities I needed at the start of my career.

Rob Willson graduated in 2011 after completing a MMus (trumpet) and is now a freelance trumpet player. He divides his time between performing, teaching and outreach work. He has played with orchestras including the London Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic, appeared as concerto soloist with King’s College London Symphony Orchestra, and performs regularly with pop/rock function band, Brando, a band with an established profile both in the UK and Switzerland. Rob is a founding member of Meridian Brass, a quartet specialising in arranging and performing works not often associated with brass instruments, largely from the Romantic and 20th Century periods. He is passionate about education and outreach work, and works regularly for the LPO’s Education and Community Department. Recent projects include Crisis Skylight, Leonard Cheshire and Animate Orchestra for the LPO, as well as Shooting Star CHASE Hospice and Music in Prisons.

Rob was supported by the Trinity College London Scholarship and the Cordelia Moses Scholarship while at Trinity Laban.
