My time at Trinity Laban allowed me to be the artist I am today. It opened my eyes and ears to the possibilities of contemporary music and gave me the confidence to forge my own career path. I will be forever grateful for the support and training I received.

Biography

Soosan Lolavar graduated with a MMus in Composition in 2013. She is a British-Iranian composer and educator who works in electronic and acoustic sound and across the genres of concert music, dance, installation and film. Her work has been performed at the Royal Festival Hall, V&A, National Maritime Museum, ICA, Chisenhale Gallery, Blackheath Concert Halls and on BBC Radio 3. She has been commissioned by the London Sinfonietta and was awarded Arts Council, Jerwood Charitable Foundation and Iran Heritage Foundation funding to develop a music project linking Iran and the UK. Soosan won the John Halford Prize for piano composition in 2012 and was selected for Adopt a Composer run by PRS for Music Foundation and Making Music. She was selected as one of two Embedded composers in residence at Southbank Centre in 2013. Soosan also holds degrees in Social and Political Sciences (University of Cambridge) and Musicology (University of Oxford).
