Garrett Snedeker

Garrett Snedeker is a 2019 graduate of Washington State University, with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy. He was a member of the WSU Honors College, and studied piano with Dr. Jeff Savage. He is originally from Ellensburg, WA and studied piano with his mother, Marilyn Wilbanks. He was recognized as a Presser Scholar, Outstanding Senior for the WSU School of Music, and a “Top Ten” Senior at WSU.

Garrett won the 2016 and 2017 Washington State MTNA Young Artist Competition, and received Honorable Mention at the 2017 Divisional round. He attended the 2017 and 2018 Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, ME, and the 2018 Classical Music Festival Piano Seminar in Eisenstadt, Austria. As a winner of the WSU Concerto/Aria Competition, Garrett performed the first movement of Prokofiev’s Concerto No.3 with the WSU Symphony Orchestra at the Fox Theatre in Spokane, WA.

Garrett received a grant from his university to travel to Brazil to study the life and music of Chiquinha Gonzaga (1847-1935), Brazil’s first female professional pianist. He has given lecture recitals and presentations about her life at conferences across the United States, and has written an article that will be featured in an upcoming issue of the American Music Teacher.
