Alumni secure contracts with dance-circus company

Mon 9 April 2018

Recent dance graduate Beth Pattison has joined Motionhouse full-time, whilst Rosie Macari tours Australia with the company for 2018’s Commonwealth Games.

Founded in 1988 by Kevin Finnan MBE and Trinity Laban alumnus Louise Richards, Motionhouse creates and internationally tours a variety of world-class dance-circus productions integrating athletic physicality, powerful narrative, imaginative sets, incredible digital imagery, and emotive sound scores.

Alumnus Beth Pattison joined Motionhouse as an Apprentice Dancer in September 2017, after completing her undergraduate training in contemporary dance at Trinity Laban (2014-17) and a residency at balletLORENT. Prior to studying at Trinity Laban, Beth completed the Dance City Centre for Advanced Training programme (2008-2014).

During her apprenticeship Beth successfully auditioned for a full-time contract with the innovative company.

On her appointment, the young dancer comments –

“I feel extremely lucky and honoured to be touring and performing with Motionhouse, my dream company, and I know that this would never have been made possible without the platform that Trinity Laban gave me to develop into a professional dance artist. The wide range of classes and modules allowed me to grow into a well-rounded and intelligent dancer and allowed me to apply myself with confidence in learning new ways of moving and performing. For that I am incredibly grateful.”

Since joining Motionhouse, Beth has performed in outdoor works Captive – a fusion of acrobatics and dance exploring survival and captivity inside a cage – and the Shakespeare-inspired Midwinter Magic, and is currently touring their new work Charge in theatres throughout the UK and Europe.

Fellow alumnus Rosie Macari is also dancing with the company, touring their ourdoor dance circus fusion production BLOCK. Currently, she is performing at Surfer’s Paradise and Broadbeach on Australia’s Gold Coast as part of the Commonwealth Games ‘Festival 2018’, before company tours the show around Europe. Prior to the tour Rosie spent time with Motionhouse an artist in training from September 2016 to April 2017.

Originally from Newcastle, Rosie started her training on the Centre for Advanced Training programme at Dance City and completed a First Class BA Hons in contemporary dance at Trinity Laban in 2014.
