Trinity Laban are pleased to announce that pianist and composer Rolf Hind has been appointed as a Visiting Artist.
In a career that has taken him all over the world, Rolf Hind has worked with many of the greatest names in 20th and 21st century contemporary classical music. He is in demand throughout the world as a versatile interpreter of contemporary music, working closely with composers as diverse as John Adams, György Ligeti, Olivier Messiaen and Iannis Xenakis.
Rolf launched his new role by giving a piano masterclass at Trinity Laban on 30 March. He commented:
“I’ve been coming to Trinity Laban to do various different things for around 20 years now and over time it’s gone through real transformations. I’ll be working with the piano and composition departments mainly and they seem to be constantly reinventing themselves and making new connections with other places. I’m really excited to be involved with this new period of transformation.”
Peter Tuite, Head of Piano and Keyboard at Trinity Laban, commented:
“I am absolutely delighted that Rolf Hind will be joining the Trinity Laban community as our new Visiting Artist. Rolf is one of the outstanding contemporary piano specialists of our time and this coupled with his generosity as an artist and pedagogue brings a great addition to our conservatoire. The Piano and Keyboard Department at Trinity Laban is one of the most dynamic and exciting centres for study in the world today and Rolf’s appointment will only further add to that.”
Rolf is in demand as a soloist with all the major BBC orchestras and plays regularly with the London Sinfonietta. Further afield he has made numerous appearances and as a performer has had a number of concertos written for him.
