Trinity Laban student wins extraordinary competition

Vocalist Cherise Adams-Burnett has secured the trip of a lifetime, winning two seats on the British Airways VIP party flight to the home of jazz, New Orleans, on February 24.

Cherise is one of three winners of the British Airways ‘Busk for your seat’ competition. To launch their new route to New Orleans, British Airways launched the competition set out to find and showcase three undiscovered jazz musicians. The winners will perform during a sky high gig to 150 guests on an exclusive charter flight, scheduled to co-inside with Mardi Gras weekend.

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and pianist Jon Cleary, and double MOBO award-winning saxophonist YolanDa Brown selected the three winners, who will experience everything New Orleans has to offer during the most sought after weekend of the year.

Cherise commented:

'All young jazz musicians dream of heading to New Orleans, so I can't describe how excited I am that I'm actually going to be going there. I'm so thankful that Jon and YolanDa selected me for this fantastic opportunity and can't wait to take part.’
