Mark Baldwin OBE helps Trinity Laban award undergraduate dance degrees

Fri 14 December 2018

On Monday 10 December at the Laban Building, Trinity Laban awarded undergraduate degrees to the “Class of 2018” graduating from its renowned BA Contemporary Dance.

The guests of honour at the ceremony, held at the Laban Building, were Councillor Jacq Paschoud (Chair of Lewisham Council) and acclaimed choreographer Mark Baldwin OBE, who gave a speech to the graduating students.

The ceremony also included a tribute to Director of Dance Mirella Bartrip, who is stepping down in January after an illustrious 36-year career at the conservatoire.

The graduates and their families then enjoyed a preview performance of a brand new piece from Transitions Dance Company, choreographed by Karole Armitage.

Graduates from Trinity Laban’s BA Contemporary Dance proceed onto varied and successful careers in dance. Members of the Class of 2018 have already taken up positions with professional companies such as New Adventures and BalletBoyz or training companies such as Transitions and Verve, progressed onto further study and research, or had their choreographic work presented at platforms such as Heads Up at the Edinburgh Fringe.
