Nitin Sawhney to present keynote address at Musicians’ Union conference

Thu 13 September 2018

The Musicians’ Union (MU) and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance are delighted to announce that Nitin Sawhney will be presenting the keynote address at their 2018 Teachers’ CPD weekend.

Recipient of the 2017 Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award, Sawhney is an artist, producer, songwriter, club DJ, broadcaster, multi-instrumentalist, orchestral composer and cultural tastemaker.

The MU’s Teachers’ Continued Professional Development (CPD) Weekend is a biennial event that gives musicians who teach the opportunity to meet other music education specialists, teachers and practitioners to share skills and practice. Debates, workshops and valuable 1-1 surgeries complete the itinerary, along with music-making and networking with colleagues working in music education from across the UK.

Diane Widdison, MU National Organiser for Education & Training, said –

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Trinity Laban again this year for our CPD event to support those musicians working in the education sector. The programme offers a diverse range of activities to represent the many different areas in which our members work and the whole MU education team will be present to meet and engage in debate with participants.”

The event takes place on 27th and 28th October 2018 at the Laban Building, Creekside – home to Trinity Laban’s Faculty of Dance. Attendance is discounted for MU members and Trinity Laban students.

Tickets cost £25 per day for MU members and the booking deadline is Friday 19 October.

More details and tickets can be found here, or visit the MU’s website.
