The Wolfson Foundation renews grant

Mon 4 February 2019

Trinity Laban is delighted to announce that it has been awarded £90,000 over the next three years to continue the Wolfson Music Awards programme.

Designed to help talented young musicians to access high-quality musical training, the gift from The Wolfson Foundation will fund the purchase of instruments for undergraduate students and provide bursaries for Junior Trinity students, supporting fifteen individuals across Trinity Laban’s Faculty of Music each year.

Recipients are selected based on their musical ability and financial need.

Previous recipient, guitar student Nedelina Zhelva, commented –“The award has given me the opportunity to own an instrument that will allow me to continue learning and growing as a musician.”

Paul Ramsbottom, Chief Executive of the Wolfson Foundation said – “The Wolfson Foundation very much value our longstanding relationship with music conservatoires and share their concern that access to high quality music education should be available to all. It would be a tragedy if this education was simply the preserve of the privileged in our society.”

Trinity Laban is London’s Creative Conservatoire: an internationally celebrated centre of excellence, offering world-class training in dance, music and musical theatre, and is committed to supporting and developing a diverse intake of talented performers and creators.
