Trinity Laban alumnus progresses to final of BBC talent show ‘All Together Now’

Mon 26 February 2018

Inspirational soprano Victoria Oruwari has sung her way into the final of the BBC singing competition with a twist.

Appearing on-screen in front of a panel of 100 musical experts and performers from across the UK, Oruwari performed the rousing ‘Climb Every Mountain’ from Rogers & Hammerstein’s musical Sound of Music. Her performance won over almost all of the diverse panel, earning her an impressive score of 95 out of 100 and ensuring automatic qualification to the final on Saturday 3 March. Oruwari will compete against nine other singers for a chance to win £50,000.

On qualifying Oruwari commented –

“Singing All Together Now has been a wonderful experience. I’ve met and worked with so many lovely musicians and I am really excited to be in the final and grateful to have come this far.”

The Nigerian-born, London-based singer completed both her BMus degree and Postgraduate Diploma (distinction) at Trinity Laban. Talking about her training, Oruwari continued –

“I thoroughly enjoyed studying voice at Trinity Laban. It was an incredibly supportive environment that ensured my access needs were met. Working with such talented and dedicated staff gave me the confidence to believe in myself and the discipline I required to carry on singing long after leaving college. During my studies I was encouraged to explore other genres such as jazz and musical theatre alongside classical singing, which has made me a more versatile artist.”
