Trinity Laban Appoints Phil Harding as Director Of Finance & Estates

Mon 8 February 2021

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is pleased to announce that Phil Harding has accepted the post of Director of Finance and Estates. His appointment follows an extensive search and recruitment process subsequent to the retirement of Barry Douglas in December 2020. Harding will take up his post in April.

Harding joins the conservatoire following nine years as Director of Finance and Business Affairs at UCL, with previous senior leadership roles at City University, the University of Westminster and the University of Bedfordshire. He has held responsibility for services beyond finance, including HR, IT, estates and student services. Harding is UUK Lead Negotiator on the USS Joint Negotiating Committee and has held various sector roles including acting as chair of the British Universities Finance Directors Group. Prior to working in HE, Phil worked in the NHS, and within the private sector.

Professor Anthony Bowne, Principal of Trinity Laban, says –

“We are thrilled to welcome Phil Harding to the Trinity Laban team. His significant sector experience and knowledge will be of great benefit to us as we work towards ensuring the future of our world-class teaching and learning, building upon the outstanding legacy left by Barry Douglas, who retired in 2020.”

Phil Harding says –

“Trinity Laban is a unique and special conservatoire, and I am very pleased to be joining as the arts and HE sectors begin to emerge from the pandemic. There are many challenges and opportunities ahead, and I am very much looking forward to working with the whole team at Trinity Laban to embrace them all.”
