Biography

Kirsty Alexander graduated in 1988 with a Diploma in Dance Studies. After graduating she performed with artists including Gill Clarke, Gaby Agis, Rosemary Butcher, Michael Clark and Michel Laub. She has been involved in educating dancers within the higher education sector for over 15 years, including as Head of Undergraduate Studies at the former Laban Centre and as Assistant Director of London Contemporary Dance School. Together with fellow alumnus Gitta Wigro, Kirsty is now Co-director of Independent Dance. Kirsty also choreographs her own work, often site specific, collaborating with artists from other disciplines. She is a certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique, an associate editor of the Journal of Dance and Somatic Practices and is completing a PhD at the University of Stirling.
