Biography

Paolo De Gaspari is one of the new generation of European virtuoso bass clarinettists. He studied at Rotterdam Conservatorium with Henri Bok, and is now a leading exponent on the instrument, performing and teaching extensively in Europe. Through continuous study, research and development, often in partnership with composers, he has extended the language of the bass clarinet, effectively enabling the expression of new musical ideas and raising the profile of this beautiful instrument.

In 2003 he was appointed lecturer at the International Academy of Bass Clarinet in Pordenone (Italy) and from 2007 Visiting Professor of Clarinet at the Birmingham Conservatoire (UK). He has given masterclasses throughout the world at institutions such as the Royal College of Music London, Royal Northen College of Manchester, Sibelius Academy, Utrecht Conservatorium, University of Rio de Janeiro, and Teresa Berganza Conservatorium in Madrid.

Since 2012 he has collaborated regularly with Teatro la Fenice Orchestra in Venice.
