Biography

Robert Anderson is an independent dance artist based in London. He teaches improvisation and contact improvisation at Trinity Laban, Rose Bruford College and in a variety of settings in the UK and abroad.

Qualifications / Educational Background

Robert has been passionately involved with contact improvisation since 1996 studying with leading teachers from the US and Europe (including Kirsty Simson, Nancy Stark Smith, Martin Keogh, Ray Chung, Andrew Harwood).

 

Teaching Experience

Since 2001 Robert has been teaching and facilitating contact improvisation classes, jams and workshops in London. Robert has taught abroad at international dance festivals in Germany, Poland, Russia, Italy, Finland, US and Israel.

 

Creative Outputs

He was a curator for the CI36 celebration in Pennsylvania (2008) and part of the organising team for ecite09 in Ormskirk, England (2009). Recent performance projects have included Some Men Must Die (Kiev, 2015) directed by Thomas Mettler. He has also performed in work by Jia-Yu Corti, Joe Moran, Kate Brown, Tino Seghal, Jovair Longo, Meghan Flannigan, Margot Henderson, Lalitaraja and Sarah Shorten. He has been a company member of Touchdown Dance since 2002. His classes invite a sense of play and poetry for the dancing body.
