Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance 

Transitions Dance Company
A graduate dance company that offers a bridge to the professional world while you study for a Masters.  Students have the chance to experience life in a dance company, where they will work with innovative choreographers and artists to create new work, touring their repertory in the UK and overseas. 

Audition dates for September 2017 entry are listed on the website.  Places for audition are limited, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so we recommend that you apply as soon as possible. Applications can be submitted via UCAS Conservatoires.


London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS)

EDge is a postgraduate performance company that offers students a programme of creative investigations under the direction of professional choreographers from a range of backgrounds. The company creates a repertoire of work which it tours nationally and internationally.
Closing date for applications: Friday 6 January 2017, 12.00h (noon). 

Postgraduate apprenticeships develop students’ skills as performers through placements with well-established professional companies. Apprentices work with the host company and always perform on stage with them in professional settings as part of the programme. Students specialising in Performance are almost always full-time students and work for the whole year in a company setting (36 weeks).
Please note: due to Visa restrictions set by UK Visas and Immigration it is not possible for LCDS to place students from overseas (outside the EU) with host companies for apprenticeships. Therefore the apprentice programme is open only to applicants from the UK/European Union.

The Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD)

Verve, the Postgraduate Performance Company
VERVE is the postgraduate performance company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). VERVE dancers are enrolled on a one-year full-time programme leading to a Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Contemporary Dance. The company tours a programme of new work annually over a four-month period to a diverse range of professional venues throughout the UK and selected European cities.

The Postgraduate Apprenticeship Scheme
The scheme offers an opportunity for professional development through a work placement with a professional dance company of between three and seven months.  As a Postgraduate Apprentice, you will work alongside professional dancers, experiencing the processes involved in creating, rehearsing, producing and touring a performance programme or project, including any related education and community outreach work.  The placement experience is supplemented by a wide range of technical and creative work delivered at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD), involving performance platforms, taking class with VERVE and research based activities.

University of Chichester

Mapdance is the University of Chichester’s touring performance company and offers dance artists, the chance to undertake a Masters degree or Postgraduate Diploma. Working intensively with international guest choreographers, students develop their technical and performance skills and deepen understanding of the creative process. mapdance operates as a professional company with daily technique classes and rehearsals. From mid-February to May the company tours nationally and internationally whilst also offering educational workshops. Further details can be found on the University of Chichester website.


Jasmin Vardimon Company’s JV2: Professional Development Diploma (non-accredited) is a highly practical programme for those who are hoping to pursue a career as a professional performer. The aim of the course is to develop students into versatile performers with skills in a range of performance disciplines. JV2 covers intensive training, including a national tour towards the end of the programme. The course runs October – May and is based in Ashford, Kent at the Jasmin Vardimon Production Space. Based in South East London, the Springs Dance Company Apprenticeship Scheme is an intensive dance course (non-accredited) that focuses on the creation, performance and teaching of contemporary dance work inspired by and expressive of the Christian faith. The Apprenticeship Scheme offers the option of a ten-month course (Elevate Dance Company), which runs from September until July. The course culminates in a national or international tour in which students perform and teach as Springs’ daughter company, Elevate. The course focuses primarily on developing the technical proficiency, performance skills, and community experience required for touring. Apply via the Springs Dance Company website.
