Students have the chance to experience life in a dance company, where they will work with innovative choreographers and artists to create new work, touring their repertory in the UK and overseas. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA / MA IN CONTEMPORARY DANCE
London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS)
EDge is a postgraduate performance company that offers students a programme of creative investigations under the direction of professional choreographers from a range of backgrounds. The company creates a repertoire of work which it tours nationally and internationally.
Postgraduate apprenticeships develop students’ skills as performers through placements with well-established professional companies. Apprentices work with the host company and always perform on stage with them in professional settings as part of the programme. Students specialising in Performance are almost always full-time students and work for the whole year in a company setting (36 weeks).
Please note: due to Visa restrictions set by UK Visas and Immigration it is not possible for LCDS to place students from overseas (outside the EU) with host companies for apprenticeships. Therefore the apprentice programme is open only to applicants from the UK/European Union.

The Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD)
Verve, the Postgraduate Performance Company
VERVE is the postgraduate performance company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). VERVE dancers are enrolled on a one-year full-time programme leading to a Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Contemporary Dance Performance. VERVE undertakes a tour across the UK and to select international venues.
Postgraduate Apprenticeship Scheme (PAS)
This one-year, full-time programme provides an opportunity for students to undertake extensive professional development and refine their skills as a performer, whilst being an apprentice with a professional dance company.
MA PERFORMANCE: DANCE / POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN CONTEMPORARY DANCE PERFORMANCE
University of Chichester
Mapdance is the University of Chichester’s touring performance company and offers dance artists, the chance to undertake a Masters degree or Postgraduate Diploma. Working intensively with international guest choreographers, students develop their technical and performance skills and deepen understanding of the creative process. mapdance operates as a professional company with daily technique classes and rehearsals. From mid-February to May the company tours nationally and internationally whilst also offering educational workshops. Further details can be found on the University of Chichester website.
MA PROFESSIONAL DANCE PERFORMANCE
Rambert School & Rambert Dance Company
Rambert2 is an ensemble created in partnership between Rambert School and Rambert Dance Company. Rambert2 dancers create and tour contemporary dance, while developing their individual creative and reflective dance practice, and gaining a postgraduate qualification – an MA in Professional Dance Performance, awarded by Rambert School and validated by the University of Kent. Dancers selected for Rambert2 will receive financial support equivalent to the London Living Wage to cover tuition fees and living costs.
MA DANCE PERFORMANCE AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES
Joss Arnott Dance / University of Salford
Emergence is the postgraduate dance company of Joss Arnott Dance and the University of Salford which is embedded within an industry-led MA Dance Performance and Professional Practices programme. Dancers collaborate with a collection of internationally acclaimed choreographers to produce a programme of work each year. Emergence tour under the artistic direction of Joss Arnott and the guidance of a wider team of dance professionals in Spring annually. The Masters programme not only focuses on contemporary dance performance at the highest level, but also addresses the wider needs of the dance professional including modules on teaching, producing, workshop design and touring.
JV2: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DIPLOMA
Jasmin Vardimon Company
Jasmin Vardimon Company’s JV2: Professional Development Diploma (non-accredited) is a highly practical programme for those who are hoping to pursue a career as a professional performer. The aim of the course is to develop students into versatile performers with skills in a range of performance disciplines. JV2 covers intensive training, including a national tour towards the end of the programme. The course runs October – May and is based in Ashford, Kent at the Jasmin Vardimon Production Space.
