Biography

Peter Arnold was born in North London and, after becoming a junior student for 5 years at Trinity College of Music, with Jane Mansergh as his piano professor, he continued there at the age of 18 as a full-time student, studying the piano with John Bingham. During this time he was awarded a scholarship and several prizes for piano and piano accompaniment by the college.

The subsequent award of a Hungarian Government Scholarship enabled him to continue his studies for 2 years at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music Budapest, where his professors were Gyorgy Nador and Valeria Szervanszky.

He has played in the masterclasses of Vlado Perlemuter, Tamas Vasary and Andre Tchaikovsky and has also played on Danish Television playing music by Carl Nielsen in masterclasses of composer/pianist Herman Koppel, a protege of Nielsen himself.

Peter has made numerous appearances as chamber musician and soloist around the U.K and projects have included recitals of the complete piano music of Carl Nielsen and a CD of clarinet and piano music by 20th century British composers and Brahms.

Another of his projects consisted of many visits to primary schools with specially devised programmes of live piano music designed to make the music of the great composers accessible to each of the different pupils’ year groups.

In 2019 Peter moved to a Tudor barn in Wales, where he has had a recital room/studio incorporated into the building.

Junior Trinity

Junior Trinity is a Saturday Music Department for 3-19 year olds. We were the first Junior Department of a UK Conservatoire to open its doors to schoolchildren on Saturdays in 1906. Since then thousands of young people have benefited from the opportunities to make music as individuals and in a wide variety of small and large ensembles. From Trinity Teenies aged 3-5 right through to university and conservatoire entrance, it is our aim to encourage a lifelong interest in music and to give our students the opportunities to develop to their maximum potential.
