Biography

Michael is currently a PhD scholarship student at the University of Hull, researching Hull City of Culture and political culture post-Brexit. He trained as an actor at Rose Bruford and has an MA in Theatre and Performance from Queen Mary University of London.

Michael has taught and led masterclasses at: Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford, Arts Ed, Mountview, Guildford School of Acting, The Urdang Academy (where he was senior acting tutor 2009-2011), Trinity Laban, the Royal Academy of Music, London School of Musical Theatre, CPA Studios, Italia Conti, Music Theatre 4 Youth (MT4UTH (Dublin)) and at the National Student Drama Festival.

Directing Credits

Venus in fur: Good People (German Premières, English Theatre Frankfurt); Breaking The Code (English Theatre Frankfurt); Some Girl I used to Know (Runaway Productions, West Yorkshire Playhouse & UK Tour); Elaine Paige in Concert(Royal Festival Hall, UK Tour); Sleeping Beauty (Place Theatre); Poor Ted (OnO Theatre Co.). Between 2011 and 2013 Michael was Associate/Resident Director for the Ambassador Theatre Company, working on: South Pacific (Barbican & UK Tour 2011/12), Spamalot (UK Tour, West End), The Rocky Horror Show (UK Tour and International Tour).

 

Performing Credits

The Soldier’s Fortune (Young Vic), Amadeus (Wilton’s Music Hall), As You Like It (Wyndham’s, West End), Privates on Parade (New Victoria Theatre, Stoke). Michael played the Beadle in the original multi-award winning Watermill production of Sweeney Todd, (UK Tour/West End). Also at the Watermill: Martin Guerre, Piaf, Cinderella and the Enchanted Slipper, Fiddler on the Roof and Carmen.

Recent productions at Trinity Laban:  Seussical, Urinetown, The Clockmaker's Daughter; and elsewhere: Equus, Punk Rock (London College of Music); Sunshine on Leith, The Ballad of Kitty Jay (MTA, Bridewell Theatre); Company, How to Succeed in Business, The Wiz, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (LIPA); Soho Cinders, Hair (The Urdang Academy); Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Nymph Errant (Mountview).

Michael is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts.
