Bellingham Beats - Half Term Project

Get dancing this spring with Bellingham Beats half term workshops – free creative dance classes for 3-5 and 11-14 year olds!

This February half term join us for vibrant creative workshops, supporting children and young people to develop their dance skills, make friends, and create in a safe, supportive environment.

These high-quality classes will be taught by Trinity Laban dance artist Amy Robinson, and will take place in Bellingham.

Dancing Stories: for 3 – 5 year olds and their carers

Get ready to explore and play this half term, with dancing story sessions for 3-5 year olds and their grown-ups. In this session you and your young movers will jump, skip, hop and roll into their favourite stories and build fun new worlds to explore.

Join us for this exciting workshop designed to encourage movement and creativity, in a safe welcoming environment

All 3-5 year olds must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the full 45-minute session. Adults can expect to move, dance and create along with your little ones. Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

This class is open to all levels, all you need is enthusiasm and imagination!

Day: Monday 17 February (We’re Going on A Bear Hunt), Wednesday 19 February (The Gruffalo), Friday 21 February (The Very Hungry Caterpillar)

Time: 10:00-10:45 and 11:00-11:45

All sessions are free

You can sign up for one, two or all three days. Classes on the same day will be identical in content. Drop ins will be available however we recommend booking your place in advance.

Dance and Dive: Creative Dance for 11 – 14 year olds

Get your body moving during half term and try something new! Join us for a fun creative dance class open to all 11-14 year olds, from complete beginners to those with lots of experience.

Each session we will look at exploring the movements of ‘Parkour’ through Dance. We will leap, roll, dive and balance; setting ourselves creative challenges along the way. This exciting session will give participants the chance to learn new moves and make new friends, in a safe and supportive environment.

Please ensure your participant wears comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, and brings a bottle of water with them.

Day: Wednesday 19 February and Friday 21 February

Time: 13:00 – 14.30

Amy Robinson – Teacher Biography

Amy Robinson trained at Roehampton University gaining a BA Hons in Dance Studies before going on to complete an internship and training at Trinity Laban conservatoire. She now works as a Contemporary Dance Artist choreographing, mentoring, and teaching contemporary dance on behalf of Trinity Laban conservatoire, Greenwich Dance, Royal Academy of Dance, Dance West, East London Dance, and Chisenhale Dance Space. She has previously choreographed youth dance works for The Painted Hall (Greenwich), Eltham Palace, The National Maritime Museum with Greenwich Dance and contributed to Big Dance (Trafalgar Square). Her passion is in delivering accessible and engaging dance lessons, empowering young people to find their voice through the form. With professional dancers she has choreographed work shown at both The Place, as part of Resolution festival, and Chisenhale Dance Space and has worked as a movement director for fringe theatre in Manchester.

Amy also leads the Trinity Laban's weekly Bellingham Beats sessions during term time.
