Creative Collective - Trinity Laban

The Creative Collective is a new opportunity for up to 14 young artists (aged 15 – 19), looking to develop their own artistic work as composers and choreographers.

Creative Collective participants will have the opportunity to develop their individual choreographic or composition skills, as well as develop skills in collaborative practice and creating performance work.

The Creative Collective will be mentored by professional composer Mark Bowden and choreographer Bethan Peters, to create new, innovative and challenging pop-up performances across Lewisham as part of the annual Lewisham Live Festival, and at the Tate Modern as part of the Tate Exchange programme in February and March 2018.

Lewisham Live EXPLODES

The Creative Collective forms part of Lewisham Live EXPLODES, an initiative started in 2017. The programme enables musicians and dancers to extend their skills, commitment and progression so that they have an opportunity to specialise and develop into choreographers or composers, perhaps professionally.

What happened this year?

This year, the Creative Collective sessions ran at the Laban Building in Deptford, with a sharing at the Tate Modern and final performances around the Laban Building as part of Live at Trinity Laban (a LewishamLIVE event).

How Do I Take Part?

To be part of the Creative Collective you must meet the following criteria:

Be aged between 15 – 19 years old
Live, work or learn in Lewisham
Have at least 4 years’ experience of attending music and/or dance classes/courses

Have a passion for composing/creating your own music, or choreographing for dance
Be excited about working collaboratively with other young artists
Be inspired to develop your own artistic work as a composer or choreographer
