Biography

Tilly trained at the Anna Scher Theatre and has worked as an actress since childhood Most recently she appeared as Momo in The Velveteen Rabbit on Apple TV (Christmas 2023), and as Hilda in Inside Man on BBC 1 and Netflix (2022)Other screen credits include Ferryman, The Pact 2, Dalgliesh, The Chelsea Detective, Maigret, Vera, Call The Midwife, Teenage Health Freak, Holding On, Thomas Vinterberg’s Far From the Madding Crowd and Mike Leigh’s Peterloo, Vera Drake and Meantime She also starred in Jake Mann’s short film Karen and will soon be seen in Matterhorn shot in Switzerland, and in I Am Super, shot in Brighton She has also worked extensively on stage and was in the original production of Philip Ridley’s The Pitchfork Disney and in Tony Marchant’s Raspberry  

Tilly directed As She Likes It by Chloe Wade for a UK tour, opening at Greenwich Theatre in January 2024.   A Better Woman by Simon Mendes de Costa at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, and The Greater Game at the Southwark Playhouse.  For MTA she directed Ting Tang Mine by Nick Darke, at the Courtyard, By the Bog of Cats by Marina Carr, Welcome to Thebes by Moira Buffini, and Tess of the d’Urbervilles all at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, and Boy’s Life by Howard Korder, The Love of the Nightingale by Timberlake Wertenbaker and Our Mutual Friend at the Tower Theatre.  She also directed New Year’s Date by Simon Mendes da Costa, The Man From Clare by Jaki McCarrick, and Harry Is Asking by Katharina Rodda, all for Omniwrite at the Omnibus Theatre.  She’s directed many play readings for RADA and Women@RADA and is a director on the RADA Contemporary Drama Summer School since 2011.  

She was a writer on Paul Merton’s Radio 4 series Late, and her short film Domestic Flight played in festivals from LIFF to Palm Springs. She adapted Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens for the stage. She has written a full- length original screenplay The Angel and the Shark developed with Leopard Films.  She is currently working on a screen adaptation of a children’s novel.  

Tilly teaches acting at Trinity Laban on the foundation course and screen-acting at LSMT since 2001. She has also taught screen-acting at NYT, CPA, and was head of acting at MTA from 2013-2021.
