Mádé Kuti
Omorinmade “Mádé” Anikulapo Kuti is an Afrobeat composer, multi-instrumentalist, and the grandson of the legendary Fela Kuti. He grew up in Lagos at the iconic New Afrika Shrine, surrounded by music. He started touring from a young age with his father’s band, Femi Kuti’s Positive Force.
Mádé studied Composition at Trinity Laban in London – the same institution his grandfather attended (when it was Trinity College of Music). During his time here, he explored avant-garde, atonal, and experimental music.
In 2021, he released his debut solo album For(e)ward, performing every instrument on it, alongside his father’s album in a joint double release titled Legacy +.
Mádé is celebrated for his modern Afrobeat sound while honouring his family’s artistic and political heritage.
