Introducing Trinity Laban's 2025-26 Bagri Foundation Scholars

Congratulations to violinist Rongsi Hu (Graduate Diploma) and double bassist Luqi Jin (MMus), who have been named this year’s Bagri Foundation Scholars at Trinity Laban.

The Bagri Foundation Scholarship forms a vital part of our mission to nurture outstanding emerging artists from around the world. Through our multi-year partnership, launched in 2020, the Bagri Foundation supports talented musicians from Asia with financial assistance, enabling them to continue their studies here.

Speaking about this year’s scholars, Alka Bagri, Trustee of the Bagri Foundation, said: “I’m thrilled that this year, the foundation’s scholarship can support two incredibly talented musicians at a pivotal stage of their careers. Both musicians bridge conversations between classical and traditional practices in the arts. Rongsi’s dynamic artistry and Luqi’s profound musical curiosity bring fresh perspectives to classical performance, and we are excited to see how their curiosity will shape their musical journeys, through their master’s studies and beyond.”

Meet Our 2025–26 Scholars

Rongsi Hu – Graduate Diploma

Rongsi began playing the violin at the age of seven in her hometown in China, gradually realising both her talent and her love for music. After specialising in violin performance in high school, she studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and has since performed widely, including appearances at international music festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein in Germany.

Luqi Jin – MMus

Luqi’s journey with the double bass began by chance in high school, but quickly grew into a deep and enduring passion. Determined to pursue a professional performance career, she went on to study at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, where she completed her undergraduate degree.
