Both scholars bring wonderful skill and international performance experience to their studies, and we look forward to seeing how their time at Trinity Laban deepens their practice and shapes their individual artistic paths.”
Cheuk Yu Samuel Tang is a London-based bass-baritone, originally from Hong Kong. Samuel is currently studying on the Professional Diploma programme at Trinity Laban under the tuition of Professor Dr Robert Alderson and vocal coach Panaretos Kyriatzidis. An active performer specialising in operatic and art song repertoire, Samuel recently performed the roles of Le Fauteuil and L’Arbre in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. In May 2026, he presented his Master’s final recital, achieving a mark of 96 and receiving the commendation: “An exceptional, accomplished and highly engaging recital, demonstrating musicianship, technical command and interpretative authority fully commensurate with the highest Level 7 performance criteria.”
Outside Trinity Laban, Samuel has toured in France with the London Philharmonic Choir, performing Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 13, and with Opera Makers, performing Augusta Holmès’ La Montagne Noire as a chorus member.
Samuel said: “Treat your voice with kindness, and to the world, let your voice be heard.”
Felicia Toni was born in Indonesia and is currently studying with Martino Tirimo at Trinity Laban. Prior to this, she completed a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she studied with Sam Armstrong, Peter Bithell and Laura Roberts. She has performed in England and internationally, including solo recitals at the Barbican’s Milton Court, St James’s Piccadilly and the Old Royal Naval College Chapel. She is also an active collaborator in song repertoire, mentored by Eugene Asti, and in chamber music.
In 2025, Felicia was selected by the renowned French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard as one of six young pianists to take part in his Ravel masterclass, organised by music publisher Henle Verlag in Munich. She has also participated in masterclasses with Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Pascal Rogé and Robert Levin. Felicia began her musical training in 2020, having previously studied mathematics and science. She holds a degree in Engineering and Finance from the University of Cambridge and enjoys writing in her free time.
Felicia said: “I am deeply grateful to the Bagri Foundation for this generous scholarship, which gives me the opportunity to continue my musical education. Having started my musical training later than many musicians, the opportunity to dedicate myself more fully to music and continue developing under the guidance of my teacher and visiting artists is incredibly meaningful to me. This support gives me the chance to continue to grow as a pianist and musician, and to continue music-making with greater focus. I am truly thankful to the Foundation for making this next chapter possible.”
