25 Years of Dance Science Symposium and Celebration

Celebrating 25 Years of Dance Science at Trinity Laban

Trinity Laban marks 25 years of the MSc Dance Science programme with a special symposium and community celebration honouring a quarter century of research, practice, collaboration and innovation. 

What began as a growing conversation between studio and science has evolved into a dynamic, multi- and interdisciplinary field. Over the past 25 years, dance scientists, educators, clinicians, researchers and artists connected to Trinity Laban have helped shape the ways we understand performance, health, creativity and human movement. The field has expanded in depth, rigour and global reach – continually building bridges between research and application. 

This anniversary event brings together alumni, current and former staff, students, and members of the wider dance science community to reflect on where the field has been and explore where it is heading next. 

The programme will include: 

• Research, clinical, and practice-based presentations 
• Leading voices in the field 
• Networking opportunities 
• Alumni gatherings 
• A celebratory evening marking 25 years of community and impact 

At its heart, this symposium is a celebration of people — of intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary dialogue, creative risk-taking, and the shared commitment to advancing dance science in meaningful and applied ways. 

As the field continues to evolve alongside the artform of dance itself, this milestone offers a moment to reconnect, to question, to imagine, and to move forward together. 

The Call for Abstracts is now open. We invite research, clinical, and practice-based contributions that reflect the depth and diversity of dance science. Abstracts may be submitted for 15-min presentations or 45-min Practical Sessions/ Lecture Demonstrations via the online form by Sunday 4 May 2026. Notification of decisions will be sent by Friday 15 May 2026. 

We look forward to welcoming our extended Dance Science community back to Trinity Laban to celebrate this important chapter and to shape the next one.
