Discover the power and artistry of percussion at Trinity Laban, through an inspiring day of performance, creativity, and connection for young percussionists aged 11 – 18.

Guided by our expert tutors, participants will explore the full breadth of percussion: from the precision of snare drum technique and the expressive world of tuned percussion, to the drama of timpani and the creativity of the drum kit. As well as meeting like-minded young percussionists, there will be lots of opportunities across the day to connect with Trinity Laban staff and students and get advice on practice and performance, auditions and career pathways.

You will take part in a range of sessions, including:

– Sticks In Motion, an energising technical warm-up focusing on clarity, control, and dynamic expression on snare drum;

– Beyond The Basics, a hands-on exploration of the artistry and coordination of four-mallet technique;

– Timpani In Focus, a deep dive into the expressive potential of the timpani – from resonance and tuning to shaping orchestral sound;

– Exploring Drum Kit Creativity, help unlock your rhythmic voice through groove, improvisation, and stylistic versatility.

The day will end in a performance sharing.

This FREE event is aimed at young musicians with experience in both tuned and untuned percussion, at Grade 5+ standard or equivalent. Apply to take part by completing our online booking form.
