Event details

Curtain up. Our BA Third Year students take to the stage in their graduating shows.

Based on the 1984 novel by Jay McInerney, Bright Lights, Big City follows a week in the life of Jamie, a successful young writer who loses himself in the chaos of 1980s New York City.

Jamie’s dream of becoming a novelist leads him to the Big Apple, where he leaves behind his marriage and stability for the temptations of parties, nightclubs and drugs. As he confronts his past, his future becomes less clear. Set to a soundtrack resonant with 1980s rock sounds, this musical brings to life the fragility behind the bright lights and the alienation of the big city.
