Commissioned Works 2026: BA3 Contemporary Dance
Creekside, Laban Theatre
Thu 5 – Fri 6 Feb 2026
Event details
The house lights go down. Cue sound and spotlights. A quartet of movement and magic awaits you.
Commissioned Works 2026 brings together our third year BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance students with guest artists, commissioned to develop brand new dance works for the Laban Theatre stage.
Choreographers featured include:
‘Dance for me is a way of expression and through my work, I intend to speak volumes.’ Alesandra Seutin is an award-winning multidisciplinary performance artist and creator, whose focus is exploring movement as a foundation for theatre, media and site-specific works. The world is her muse and through her creations she comments on social, political, and economic reality with dance, song, and music.
Andreja Rauch is a choreographer, dance artist and teacher from Slovenia, whose work explores the boundaries of dance, and who relishes working in collaboration to explore new ways of creating.
We’re looking forward to welcoming back our Trinity Laban alumni Tough Boys this season. Roseann & Sula care about finding vocabulary that feels visceral and honest to the body, and within their practice they continually question perceptions of high and low art, considering what accessibility looks like in the current artistic climate.
Last but not least, Joseph Toonga is a choreographer creating dance productions relevant to the here and now which are embedded in hip hop and inspired by real life stories. Trained in both hip hop and contemporary dance, his craftsmanship and signature choreographic style challenges conventions commonly used in hip hop dance, and shifts audience perceptions by addressing racial stigmas and societal stereotypes.
