Dance Ability: Carers & Dancers

Event details

A fun and creative weekly class, Dance Ability is specifically designed for young dancers with cognitive and/or physical disabilities, or who identify as neurodivergent.

Led by experienced inclusive dance artist, Vicki Busfield, Dance Ability uses props, music and movement to boost confidence, physicality and social interaction skills.

In our Dance Ability: Carers & Dancers class, children and their parents / carers / older siblings have fun dancing together.

“I go to the Carers & Dancers class because having the support of my parent / carer / older sibling will help me: feel calm, understand, refocus, have fun!”

To start the session, children and their parent / carer are invited to move and play with our exciting range of props, explore the space and interact with each other, Vicki and the assistants. This facilitated time will encourage participants’ creativity and confidence in the class as they navigate different sensory elements and activities.

Following our interactive play time, children come together for their creative class and explore movement through exciting themes, as well as using props and music, developing physicality and encouraging social interaction, with the support of their parent / carer / older sibling.
