Lunchtime Concert: Brass Ensembles

Page Navigation

Event details

Come take a break in the middle of the day and explore the colours, rhythms, and character of brass ensemble music.

The programme brings together music from across traditions, eras, and styles, moving from ceremonial and classical writing to folk-inspired marches, lyrical slow movements, and rhythmic contemporary works. Alongside well-loved voices of the twentieth century such as Malcolm Arnold Stephen Dodgson, and Oskar Bohme, you’ll hear music shaped by Brazilian choro, modern jazz influences, and creative new writing. Trumpeter extraordinaire Matilda Lloyd, our newest brass department professor, will be performing with our students too.

Chris Wilcox’s Riff Off, a playful groove-led piece, will bring the concert to a close, sending you back to your day on a high.
