The internationallyrenowned ‘…virtuosic… Fidelio Trio…’ (Sunday Times) present a programme, featuring the world premiere of ‘interlace’, a new work for piano trio, specially composed for them by Professor Sam Hayden, Professor of Composition at Trinity Laban, with support from Research Excellent Framework Seed FundingThe programme also includes the first public performances of selected new student works specially written for them during mini-residency at Trinity Laban.

The Fidelio Trio were invited by the Composition and Research Departments to work with postgraduate and research composition students and give a lecture-recital on Hayden’s work. Written during the Covid-19 lockdown, the metaphor of physical isolation is embodied in Hayden’s work: ‘interlace’ involves a deliberate deconstruction of the piano trio instrumentation where all possible combinations are featured in virtuosic solos, duos, and combined eventually in the energetic polyphony of the complete ensemble.

This event is supported by the Vaughan Williams Foundation and Hinrichsen Foundation.
