Trinity Laban Jazz Orchestra Double Bill
King Charles Court
Fri 26 Jun 2026
Event details
We kick off a weekend of free live music in the courtyard at King Charles Court with a double bill of jazz from the Trinity Laban Jazz Orchestra.
In the first half, the Orchestra perform new student compositions inspired by John McLaughlin, our new Visiting Fellow in Improvisation. A world-leading guitarist, bandleader, and composer in jazz, Grammy-award winning John McLaughlin combines technical virtuosity with an eclectic musical style and a trailblazing approach to improvisation. Expect music made in response to John’s long and expansive career fusing jazz with rock, classical music, flamenco, and blues, while blending the traditions of western and eastern music.
In the second half, The Trinity Laban Jazz Orchestra are conducted by Calum Gourlay performing music by the extraordinary boundary-pushing improviser and exuberant large-scale composer Percy Pursglove. The Orchestra performs his latest ensemble work, originally commissioned by the Hamburg-based NDR big band.
After formative years New York, Percy is at the very cutting edge of the European Jazz scene, as a multi-instrumentalist trumpeter, double bassist, educator, improviser and composer, working internationally across a broad spectrum of jazz, contemporary classical and creative musical settings.
So grab a drink from the open air bar, take a seat and enjoy this very special night of jazz at our Greenwich home.
