Jazz at Cockpit: Calum Gourlay residency + Chelsea Carmichael

Jazz at Cockpit is a concert series for jazz and contemporary music based in Deptford, South East London, operating out of Spring Café Cockpit.

Held the last Friday of each month, the series is focussed on providing a space for young and emerging artists/ensembles to debut new creative projects. Hear new, premiered works by rising talents in the UK music scene, showcasing a wide variety of genres and influences and enjoy delicious vegetarian food and drinks available for purchase.

Chelsea Carmichael New Works  

Scottish bassist, bandleader and composer Calum Gourlay starts the night, with new sounds from his Big Band. To follow, saxophonist, composer and arranger Chelsea Carmichael shares her PhD research as a performance. Chelsea is an understated innovator and educator – quietly adding her own contribution to the iteration of jazz that has evolved on these islands. She’s a warm and hypnotic player, who brings powerful and considered improvisation to everything she does.
