Trinity Laban Opera presents: Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria
Event details
A tale of imperfect humans and divine influencers.
Having been separated from his family for twenty years, Ulisse finally returns from the wars to his kingdom, with the help (and hindrance) of the Gods. Meanwhile, his wife is left to protect their son as she holds off a gang of murderous suitors.
Head of Vocal Studies Jennifer Hamilton directs Monteverdi’s captivating tale of Ulisse’s return to his homeland, with music direction by Vicente Chavarria.
“Highly original… Jennifer Hamilton’s clever interweaving of story and music is … admirable, and just what conservatoires should be doing.” Opera Now, review of Strozzi at Blackheath Halls, 2022
