Viola, Cello and Double Bass Day

Page Navigation

Event details

Join us at Trinity Laban for a day celebrating the beautiful sound of the viola, cello and double bass. Offering specialist hands-on activities for advanced young musicians aged 11 – 18 – Grade 6 minimum, or equivalent – this FREE event is also open to confident violinists curious about exploring the viola. And for less experienced young musicians – Grade 3 minimum, or equivalent – you can take part in a dedicated afternoon workshop. Everyone will join together at the end of the day to hear and share performances.

For existing violists, cellists and bassists, our Trinity Laban staff and students led by head of strings, Nic Pendlebury – will help you refine technique, discover new possibilities for your instrument, and develop ensemble skills. For violinists, you will have bespoke group tuition from a specialist to help you develop musical versatility as a violist, working towards the challenge of an informal performance on viola at the end of the day.

Trinity Laban trains 21st-century string players who experience anything from a full symphony orchestra to solo repertoire, forming student-led quartets, collaborating with dancers, delivering workshops in the community, and playing for popular music and musical theatre.

For those who may be considering conservatoire study in the next few years you will have the opportunity to meet Trinity Laban’s staff and students, ask questions about developing as a player, careers, auditions, and life in today’s music industry. Apply to take part by completing our online booking form, giving us details about your experience to help us allocate you to the most suitable group.
