David Brodowski is the Lead Tutor for Strings at Junior Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he oversees the string department, coaches violin and chamber music, and supports the pedagogical development of young musicians. His primary focus is on helping students build solid technical foundations, strong ensemble skills, and musical confidence.

Before turning his main focus to teaching, David spent many years as the leader of the Brodowski Quartet. During his time with the ensemble, they performed regularly at major venues across the UK and abroad – including Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Purcell Room – alongside broadcasts for BBC Radio 3. The quartet were also prize winners at several prestigious competitions, including the Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition, the Val Tidone and Zinetti international chamber music competitions in Italy, and the Charles Hennen International Chamber Music Competition in the Netherlands.

Alongside his core work at Junior Trinity, David serves on the Board of Directors for Cambridge Camerata Academy and enjoys contributing to broader educational projects. He regularly coaches chamber groups, has coordinated collaborative string masterclasses with musicians from the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and teaches at summer courses, including Pro Corda and in 2027 the London Suzuki Group International Summer School at Bryanston.

Martin Fogel is a classical guitarist, educator and artistic director who has taught individual lessons and coached ensembles at Junior Trinity, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, since 2014. An Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), he holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Gothenburg and a Postgraduate Diploma and LRAM teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Music.

He has served as External Examiner for BMus and MMus programmes at Trinity Laban and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and was Lead Consultant for the current Trinity College London Classical Guitar Syllabus (2020–2023), for which he also composed several works. Martin’s performing career includes three internationally acclaimed albums, numerous radio and television broadcasts in the UK and abroad, and soloist appearances with the New Japan Philharmonic and the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2002 he has been Artistic Director and Founder of the Lidköping Music Festival in Sweden.

His students regularly progress to leading conservatoires and ensembles, including the Royal Academy of Music, Trinity Laban, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Cambridge University and the National Youth Guitar Ensemble. Catherine began working with the String Time programme at Junior Trinity in 2006 as an accompanist. Over time her duties have expanded to include teaching aural and piano, and leading the early years Teenies classes. She has a successful private teaching practice and is an examiner for ABRSM.

Catherine studied piano at Trinity Laban with Philip Fowke and Deniz Gelenbe, and accompaniment with Eugene Asti. She is an advocate for new music and enjoys collaborating with composers, helping to build new and interesting works for all types of piano chamber ensembles. Working with the London Composers Forum, she has given world premières of many works written for herself and her colleagues. In 2016 Catherine and soprano Felicity Hayward were placed 2nd in the John Kerr English Song competition, winning the 18th Century Song prize and the Audience Prize.

From 2017 to 2020 she regularly performed with oboist Julia White on board international cruise liners. Catherine accompanied soprano Jillian Bain Christie at JAM on the Marsh in Kent and – alongside violist Scott Dickinson – at Sound Festival in Scotland. Jillian and Catherine released Ae spark o’ Nature’s fire, an album of songs by Robert Burns, in 2016.

A Park Lane Group Artist, Live Music Now Artist, Cross Trust & Keyboard Charitable Trust Artist, he was the recipient of the Weingarten Prize & Silver Medal Keyboard Award for his studies and was an Emerging Artist for the Usher Hall’s 2023/24 season. A laureate of numerous competitions including the Liszt International Piano Society, Vrsac International Chamber Music Festival, Anton Rubinstein & Gothenburg International Piano Competitions, he has worked with orchestras including the Scottish Sinfonia and Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras.

In an all encompassing repertoire, Phillip has broadcast works by Kenneth Leighton on BBC Radio, RTE Radio 1 & given numerous world premiere performances. Festival appearances include Endellion, English Music Festival, Hertfordshire, Concerts of the Tempietto & Perth Festival. He studied at Trinity Laban, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Royal Northern College of Music & L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with teachers including Philip Fowke, Alexander Ardakov, Margaret Fingerhut, Kathryn Stott, Aaron Shorr, Peter Tuite amongst others. An adjudicator for the London Young Musician Competition, Phillip runs a piano course ‘The Art of Practice & Performance’ at Jackdaws in Somerset annually and frequently gives masterclasses across the UK and abroad. He teaches at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance and Kingston University.

Samuel D Loveless is a composer and interdisciplinary artist based in London, working across contemporary music, media composition, sound design and installation. His practice spans a wide range of musical and artistic settings, often bringing together live performance, recorded sound, film and visual art, with a particular interest in collaboration, accessibility and the many forms that music-making can take. These interests have shaped ongoing work with Dr Monica Esslin-Peard and his writing for Routledge’s Innovation in Music: Innovation Pathways.

His work has been commissioned and performed by organisations including Philharmonie Luxembourg, House of Bedlam, Residentie Orkest and CoMA London, alongside composition and sound work for major media productions. Recent projects include BENCHES, an interdisciplinary project exploring neurodivergent creativity through music, photography and film.

Samuel studied Music at Goldsmiths, University of London, graduating with First-Class Honours, before completing a Master’s in Composition with Distinction at the Royal College of Music, alongside a period of study at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. He has undertaken residencies and development programmes in the UK and internationally, including as a Britten Pears Young Artist in 2023-24 and Composer in Residence with CoMA London in 2025.

Samuel is continually mesmerised by the different ways people think, create and make sense of the world around them. This runs through his work as a composer and interdisciplinary artist, where he is interested in what happens when people are given the space to think, make, and permission to dare. He brings this same fascination to his teaching, giving students the skills, tools, inspiration and wider musical perspectives to be curious.

Cellist Ollie Mansfield teaches cello and musicianship at Junior Trinity, where he gives young string players the strong foundations in string playing and nurtures their musicality and technique so they can flourish and achieve their goals. His teaching brings together excellence, encouragement and support. His students have won music scholarships and prizes, become members of the National Children’s Orchestra and performed concertos with orchestras.

Born in Brighton, Ollie studied with Alison Moncrieff-Kelly at the East Sussex Academy of Music, winning a full scholarship to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where he graduated with the Principal’s Prize. He went on to study with the renowned cello pedagogue Sue Lowe, earning the LTCL and FTCL performance diplomas with distinction, and attended the International Cello Gathering Courses, with masterclasses from Louise Hopkins, Tim Lowe and Adrian Brendel. Sue’s guidance sparked his passion for teaching and led him to complete the Teaching Musician PGCert at Trinity Laban and an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at the University of East London, both with distinction.

Beyond Junior Trinity, Ollie teaches cello in schools around the South East and tutors for South London Youth Orchestra. He has led workshops and events for the British Cello Society and Handel House Museum, and co-directed Go!Cello, a three-day cello festival, with Trinity Laban and the British Cello Society.

Combining pedagogical expertise with coaching psychology, Ollie takes an evidence-informed approach to teaching and mentoring, supporting both young musicians and fellow teachers to develop their potential. He is a Pathways mentor for Music Masters and supports postgraduate teachers on the PGCEi course (Music Masters) and the PGCert course (ESTA UK).

Ollie is also a member of the Corelli Ensemble, which performs music composed and arranged for string ensemble.

Eddie is a professional horn player and teacher with extensive experience across orchestral, chamber, brass and contemporary music. As a performer, Eddie has worked with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Orpheus Sinfonia and a range of professional orchestras across the south and east of England, alongside regular performances with Oompah Brass and the Engines Orchestra. Performance highlights include appearances at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall and Symphony Hall, Birmingham, as well as performances at the Durham Brass Festival and in Bermuda. Eddie has also performed with artists including Imogen Heap, Rumer and Elvana, and has supported Basement Jaxx at the Royal Albert Hall.

Recording and broadcast work includes performances for BBC Radio 3, including a David Willcocks tribute concert from Cambridge, and music recorded for BBC and ITV television. Eddie has also appeared on CD recordings with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), The Engines Orchestra and Joy Ellis.

Alongside performing, Eddie has extensive experience in music education, having taught for Luton Music Service and Music for Bedford Borough, and previously held a visiting music teaching position at Highgate School. Eddie currently teaches horn at St Albans High School for Girls, as well as teaching brass at Chesham Grammar School and horn and trombone at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet. Eddie is also a regular horn tutor with Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra.

Eddie is particularly interested in exploring the role of the horn within jazz and in brass chamber music, and regularly arranges music for brass ensemble and horn and piano. Eddie is also a former conductor of Enfield Community Orchestra and has contributed to youth music-making through the Orpheus Sinfonia side-by-side scheme with Ealing Youth Orchestra.

Sue studied harp with Renata Scheffel-Stein at the Royal Academy of Music. Her harmony teacher was Dr Paul Steinitz who always encouraged her to compose. Winning several awards, she was the first recipient of the Renata Scheffel-Stein prize, and a prize winner at the first National Harp Competition.

In 1981 Sue was appointed principal harpist of the Bremerhaven Stadt Orchestra in Germany. After returning to London she freelanced, regularly performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra and English National Ballet, also often travelling to play with the Ulster Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife. Sue also played for various ensembles as soloist and chamber artiste. Being a versatile player she has worked with singers such as Petula Clark and Barry White, and for the group Heaven 17. Together with Sarah Deere-Jones she formed The London Harp Duo, performing at festivals, making live broadcasts for BBC television and sailing around the world on the QE2.

As a composer Sue has written serious and light music, primarily for combinations of harp, piano and voice. Some of her works were premiered at Trinity Laban’s Camac Days Festivals in 2007 and 2009, including her Lament for Harp and String Quartet/Orchestra. She is best known for The Dream Studies and her beginners’ pieces in the Animals series books, which aim to help harpists develop good techniques early on, whilst being imaginative and fun to play. Some have been used as set pieces for competitions abroad and several are on the Trinity exam syllabus.

Before joining Junior Trinity, Sue worked as the harp teacher for the Latymer Saturday Music Centre and the Bedales Schools. She has taught players of all levels on residential courses here and abroad.
Sue has given harp lessons for the senior departments of the RAM, Birmingham Conservatoire, Trinity Laban and the RNCMD where for several years she was a Special External Examiner.

In 2022, Sue and the wonderful harpist Gwenllian Llyr, performed several of Sue’s harp solos and duets for the World Harp Congress held at the RWCMD. Gwenllian’s recording of Sue’s ‘Flying with the Birds Dream’ has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 several times. In 2024 Sue performed and taught at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival. Sue will be one of the adjudicators for the Manchester Harp Competition in 2027.

Originally from Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales, he studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Yossi Zivoni and Lydia Mordkovitch. As a student he led the college orchestras and also the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, before beginning his professional career straight from college as co-principal second violin with the Bournemouth Sinfonietta.

He has since worked extensively as a freelance violinist, recitalist and orchestral player, regularly leading freelance orchestras, appearing as concerto soloist and chamber musician. He has performed in recitals with pianist Francis Rayner, for BBC Radio 3 in performances of music by Fritz Kreisler and Bloch and in a wide range of other chamber ensembles with leading musicians. His orchestral work has included regular tours and recordings with BBC orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic and Philharmonia Orchestra, amongst others.

He has served as a jury member for several string competitions – both international and regional and has coached on the residential courses for the National Youth String Orchestra.

Alun is also a highly experienced teacher of the Alexander Technique and a member of STAT. This work informs his interest in coordination, freedom of movement and the relationship between mental and physical organisation, instrumental technique and musical expression.

As a writer, he contributes to The Strad magazine on subjects including violinists’ preparation and inheriting pupils from other teachers. He also plays the piano and uses it regularly in his teaching, which draws together professional performing experience with interests in technique, sound, stylistic awareness and individual musical expression.

Kate Warshaw is a singing teacher, vocal coach and professional mezzo-soprano whose work spans junior conservatoire, school, private-studio and professional choral settings. She joined Junior Trinity as a singing teacher in 2025, returning to the institution where she had studied in the Junior Department from 1993 to 1997 before completing a BMus at Trinity College of Music. She subsequently undertook postgraduate study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Alongside her work at Junior Trinity, Kate is Head of Singing at Holyport College, teaches singing at St Mary’s School Ascot, and has been a Vocal Coach to the London Symphony Chorus since 2018. She also runs Surrey Singing Studio, her private teaching practice, which she founded in 2000. Her teaching interests include healthy and sustainable vocal technique, vocal development and longevity, a solid linguistic foundation and helping young singers build confidence, musicianship and an understanding of professional pathways.

Kate maintains an active performing career. She has worked with English National Opera since 2008 and has appeared in over 40 productions within this time and has worked with Opera Rara since 2005, appearing in live performance and studio recordings under conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Carlo Rizzi and Paul Daniel. Her wider performance work has included the BBC Proms, Aldeburgh Festival, Bregenzer Festspiele and major opera houses in Paris. Recording credits include projects for Opera Rara, Chandos, Decca and Naxos. She was awarded the Trinity College of Music Vocal Department Silver Medal in 2001.
