Maciej Kuźmiński named Global Winner at 2026 Study UK Alumni Awards

Trinity Laban alum Maciej Kuźmiński, from Poland, has been named the Global Winner of the 2026 Study UK Alumni Awards in the Culture, Creativity and Sport category. He studied BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban, graduating in 2007, before returning to complete an MA in Choreography in 2012.

The Study UK Alumni Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of international UK alumni worldwide, honouring international leaders who have used their UK education to make significant contributions to their communities, industries, and countries. There are several award categories: business and innovation, culture, creativity and sport, science and sustainability, and social action. Maciej was selected from 28 global finalists by the judging panel in the final stage of an extensive judging process. Judges were made up of international experts including Director of Education for the British Council Maddalaine Ansell.

Maciej is an internationally recognised choreographer, producer and cultural leader whose education at Trinity Laban has shaped a career defined by artistic excellence and social impact. His work has been staged nearly 400 times across 27 countries, earning over 30 awards. Maciej founded and directed the first Polish Dance Network, supporting over 200 artists in five years and providing touring opportunities in 17 cities. His documentary From Chaos – Art is the largest documentary film series on dance in Poland with over 30 chapters available online.

In 2022, he created Polish-Ukrainian project Every Minute Motherland to support Ukrainian refugee dancers and provide them with a place to share their testimonies. The project continues to tour, with over 35 performances to date. Since 2009, he has developed Dynamic Phrasing, an original dance and composition method, now taught internationally.

Maciej credits his time at Trinity Laban with providing the skills he needed to advance his career. Not only does he praise the excellent facilities and mentors available to him but also the connections he made within the industry.

Trinity Laban alum Nefeli Tsiouti who studied MSc Dance Science, graduating in 2026, was also a national finalist at the Study UK alumni awards in Cyprus in the Science and Sustainability category.
