Peter Nagle is a composer and cellist based in London. His music combines elements of improvisation, extended just intonation and other alternative/ microtonal tunings, drones, loops and electronica.

Peter studied composition at Sheffield University with David Harold Cox, and later with Michael Finnissy. He was twice shortlisted for the Huddersfield New Music Festival Young Composers Award. His music has also been performed in Bath, Birmingham, Manchester and London, by ensembles and performers including Elision, the New Music Players, the Duke Quartet, Angharad Davies and rarescale.

As a performer Peter has appeared at venues throughout London including the Horse Improvised Music Club, Linear Obsessional Live, I’Klectik and APT Gallery. He has performed solo and with musicians such as Angharad Davies, Tom Jackson, Orphy Robinson, Sarah Nicolls, Laura Jurd, Elliot Galvin, and John Richards (aka Dirty Electronics), Tansy Spinks and Rahel Kraft.

Recent works include piece The Convalescent, an installation and performance piece presented at APT Gallery Deptford in April 2018 and his album An Equal and Opposite Reaction, released on Linear Obsessional in January 2019.

Peter is currently working towards a PhD in Composition at Trinity Laban, researching drones and the aesthetics, atmospheres and realisation of long-form music and sound art.
