Biography

Rebecca Coulthard studied at the Purcell School, the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music where she was a Foundation Scholar. Her performing career has taken her to New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Los Angeles, Italy, France, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Peru and all over the UK, and she has played in venues which include the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, Buckingham Palace, and the Houses of Parliament. Rebecca has played on BBC 1, BBC 3, Channel 5, BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Recordings include CDs with the Appassionata Trio and the Albach Duo, and a solo album featuring music by Walton, Dowland, Purcell and commissioned works by Gary Ryan and Ned Bennett. Rebecca also features on tracks with the Aquarelle and Tetra Quartets for a CD of the music of Stephen Dodgson, and on a track by Mercury Prize Winning band Alt- J. Rebecca’s arrangements and technical studies have been played all over the world, and featured in the Trinity College London guitar grade syllabus. Rebecca is in demand for her teaching, and has given master classes, seminars and tuition at many international festivals including West Dean International Guitar Festival for their 25th anniversary celebrations, Royal Greenwich Guitar Festival, Long Island Guitar Festival, Zeven Guitar Festival in Germany, and London’s Southbank Centre.
