Biography

Michael Doolan is a dancer, dance teacher, strength and conditioning coach and dance science lecturer. Michael graduated with a BA (Hons) in Classical Ballet and Dance Performance in 2011 and with an MFA in Dance Science in 2021 from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Michael’s research focused on the change in relative energy demand and movement quality during high intensity contemporary dance.

Michael’s research focused on the change in relative energy demand and movement quality during high intensity contemporary dance.

As a dancer, Michael has worked with companies such as the Greek National Opera, Le Grand Theatre du Geneve, English National Ballet, Akram Khan Company and Andonis Foniadakis Company. After a ten-year career as a performing artist, Michael started the masters at Trinity Laban to transition away from the stage.

Michael is a contact improvisation practitioner and is also a qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor specialising in working with dancers for performance and rehabilitation. In his final MFA year, Michael interned at the Royal Ballet upper school as a support strength and conditioning coach working within the healthcare team. Since graduating, Michael has lectured in strength and conditioning at Trinity Laban and in dance science at Urdang Academy.
