Take part in an exciting day of practical workshops exploring and playing jazz.

Aimed at 14 – 25 year old female musicians - instrumentalists and vocalists – wanting to develop their understanding of the music, and get an intensive taste of learning jazz at one of the UK’s top conservatoires.

Thursday 25 June 2020, 10.00am-14.30pm

Due to the current circumstances regarding COVID-19 and social distancing, this event is having to take place remotely. Across the day, participants will take part in 3 online sessions facilitated by world-class teachers and musicians from Trinity Laban and beyond, including Andrea Vicary, Dee Byrne and Cherise Adams-Burnett. Connect up with other young female musicians online and get lots of practical advice and inspiration along the way.

  • The Jazz Chat: You get to ask the questions to our expert panel, who will be chatting live. Find out more about pathways into becoming a professional jazz artist, how to keep motivated and build your skills during lockdown, what it’s like studying jazz in a conservatoire, and the challenges for female musicians;
  • Interpreting the Music: Working in small groups based on your level of jazz experience, each tutor will unpack a favourite piece of music with you, to help explore some of the fundamentals of jazz. Resources will be sent out in advance, to help you make the most of this session;
  • You and Your Instrument: Get some tips on technique and practice. Be ready to sing or play yourself, and receive helpful feedback direct from one of our expert tutors.
