Biography
A sought-after collaborative pianist, Rebecca Cohen has appeared in recital alongside some of Britain’s finest singers including Joan Rodgers CBE, Benedict Nelson, Claire Barnett-Jones and Harriet Burns at venues including Wigmore Hall, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, National Concert Hall Dublin, Mozarthaus Vienna and on BBC Radio 3, premiering a BBC Radio 3 Commission as part of International Women’s Day.
A finalist in the Das Lied International Song Competition with soprano Nazan Fikret, she is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes including the Lillian Ash French Song prize and the Paul Hamburger Prize for accompaniment awarded by Graham Johnson as part of his prestigious Song Guild. Following her studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Rebecca was awarded a scholarship to attend the Franz Schubert Institut in Austria.
Rebecca is a member of staff at the Guildhall School where she is a pianist, mentor and also director of the Creative Minds in Song project. She joined the piano faculty at Junior Trinity Laban in 2018 and has given masterclasses for EPTA and workshops for organisations including Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now and the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots series.
Rebecca is Co-Director of Song in the City; an initiative which promotes classical song. In 2015 was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts.
