Biography

Jon Christos is a highly acclaimed operatic tenor, vocal coach, recording artist, musical director and tv and radio personality who has performed at prestigious major events across the globe. He began his training at the renowned Chetham’s School of Music as a cathedral chorister studying violin and piano and then graduated to the Royal Northern College of Music where he completed an undergraduate degree and postgraduate diploma, gaining recognition for his incredible range and vocal versatility. 

Celebrated conductor and composer Carl Davis is quoted regarding Jon as ‘One of the finest and most versatile singers of his generation’. The late legendary American conductor Erich Kunzel is quoted saying ‘he has the warmth, personality, charisma, stage presence and voice that can sing and adapt to anything and any style he wants to sing; he has it all’. It is due to such high praise as well as the incredible reactions from audiences at home and abroad that he was soon signed by Sony Music to a lucrative five-album deal and has since gone on to feature in no less than 12 albums, achieving the status of becoming a multi-platinum selling recording artist.

Jon is always in high demand all over the world in both the concert platform and corporate sectors performing material from opera, classical crossover and musical theatre alongside his work in TV and radio here in the UK. He is also regularly teaching and coaching singers from a diverse genre base, including performers signed to Universal and Sony Music, as well as pupils in various music college and artists performing in opera productions and Broadway and West End shows. 

Career highlights include: four televised performances for BBC Songs of Praise; four live performances on BBC Radio 2 Friday Night is Music Night; s world tour of the Il Destino theatre show Bohemia on land and at sea; a weekly radio show on BBC Radio Lancashire and PCRadio which ran for five years; an ITV documentary on his career showcasing his 9/11 Memorial Concert in New York in front of United Nations delegates and other world leaders; the launch of Cunard’s Queen Victoria for HRH Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall; presenting and performing at the televised BBC Proms in the Park alongside Chris de Burgh and John Barrowman; a performance alongside Sir Cliff Richard for his annual Charity Gala in Vale de Lobo, Portugal; being the first artist to perform at the New Wembley Stadium for their debut England International;  performances at a wealth of other sporting, corporate and private events all over the world. He is also one half of the acclaimed duo Il Destino alongside West End performer Adam Lacey performing regularly across the globe on land and at sea.
