Music Partnerships

Music students gain industry experience through ‘side-by-sides’ with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Welsh National Opera amongst others, and a mentorship scheme with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, including live BBC Radio 3 broadcasts.

Our masterclass programme enables students to work with musicians from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Ensemble Modern.

Musical Theatre enjoys close relationships with professionals from London’s West End and New York’s Broadway such as choreographer Xena Gusthart, LA playwright Somebody Jones, and directors Khadifa Wong and Nick Evans.

Other relationships include National Opera Studio, Tomorrow’s Warriors, National Youth Jazz Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.

Dance Partnerships

Our unique position in the field of dance enables partnership with leading companies such as Studio Wayne McGregor (a relationship reinforced by Wayne’s McGregor’s position as Visiting Professor at Trinity Laban), BalletBoyz, Candoco and the Royal Ballet School, as well as the national Centres for Advanced Training.

We regularly collaborate with the Cunningham Trust to stage MinEvents through our faculty member and licensed stager, Daniel Squire.

Delivered in conjunction with our partner organisations: Siobhan Davies Dance and Independent Dance, the MA/MFA Creative Practice programme enables experienced practitioners to develop their artistic practice in a stimulating environment of intellectual and creative inquiry.

Students from both institutions performed a Cunningham repertoire based MinEvent, staged by Robert Swinston, Director of the National Centre for Contemporary Dance in Angers, France and Trinity Laban Dance Lecturer Daniel Squire, to celebrate the Merce Cunningham Centennial in 2019.

Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA)

Working at the cross-over of art and science, Trinity Laban’s Joe Townsend (Head of CoLab) and, Sara Matthews (Director of Dance), collaborated with dance and music students from HKAPA to create the public semi-improvised, immersive performance CoLab Journeys for SPARK: The Science and Art of Creativity, a British Council Festival in Hong Kong.

The partnership brought together an organic creative approach with cross cultural technical training.

The performances were so playful and challenging at the same time. I found it really refreshing to do something different to what I am used to doing.” – HKAPA dance student Natalie

We are the only UK Conservatoire to offer Fulbright Scholarships for masters study.
