Bite Size Pieces
Dance Alumni Performance Platform
Bite Size Pieces is an exciting new initiative giving dance alumni the opportunity to share their work at a performance platform. There are a series of informal Bite Size Pieces on Wednesday evenings throughout the year, for both students and alumni to share their work and gain peer feedback.
Transitions Reception 2018
In 2018, graduates from Transitions Dance Company joined us for a reception event before the company marked the end of their tour with a special performance of works choreographed by Richard Chappell and alumni Jarkko Partanen and Hagit Yakira.
Art of Movement Studio Alumni
We have also welcomed back dance alumni who attended the Chelsea College of Physical Education and, as part of their specialism in dance, spent a year studying at what was then the Art of Movement Studio in Addlestone, Surrey. They watched a performance by Boundless, Trinity Laban’s creative dance group for people aged 60+ and observed as our dance students rehearsed pieces by Wayne McGregor and Uday Shankar for their Historical Project performances.
Trinity College of Music Alumni July 2018
In July 2018, we had a fantastic turnout of alumni who studied at Trinity College of Music in the 1980s. For many, it was the first time they had visited us in Greenwich, so the reunion was a great opportunity for them to explore our site and catch up with old friends.
Class of 1971 - Dance
We held a reunion for Dance graduates, class of 1971, in October 2018. It was the first time they had seen the Laban building, which proved to be quite different from the building they had studied in! They enjoyed a tour and were able to watch a class. Later on in the day, they took part in their own class, led by one of our dance tutors.
In December 2018, we held the pilot of a series of meet-ups for Composition alumni. This was a great opportunity for them to tell their story and hear others. The aim for this series is to develop a peer support network that can help explore creative lives and consider how to advance ambitions. It was a lovely evening of chat and a few glasses of wine!
